STANDARD OR COMPLEX GLASS CUTTING

One of the most common types of cutting glass is glass for use in doors and windows of commercial and residential buildings. Simple cuts such as rectangles and squares are most frequently ordered and can be cut on the spot.

We can also handle more complex shapes such as circles or where a template is required.

Glass Cutting Services

We offer a range of personalised glass cutting services in the North Shore. Just some of the products we can provide for you include:

Ordinary float glass

Most residential windows throughout Sydney are made up of ordinary float glass. This type of glass comes in a range of thickness and can be cut to size.

Laminated safety glass

Laminated glass holds together even when shattered, due to the PVC interlayer between its two layers of glass. We generally recommend laminated glass when there is a possibility of human impact or where glass could fall.

Toughened safety glass

Toughened safety glass is controlled by thermal treatments to magnify its strength compared to other glass. So, when broken, it will crumble into small granular chunks rather than splintering into shards. Toughened safety glass is mostly used in commercial applications, such as shop fronts and architectural glass doors.

We are specialised in all aspects of glass cutting services, including mirror and table glass cut to size, kitchen splashbacks as well as glass door repair in Sydney. Whatever glass cutting you require, we are the ones for the job.

FAQs

How is glass recycled?

Once the glass has been disposed of, it will go through a multi-step recycling process to ensure that the glass can be used again. Firstly, the glass will be collected by a recycling truck. Then, the glass is transported to the recycling centre, where it will be cleaned and sorted by colour. In a final step, the machines will crush and break down the glass so that it can be melted and placed into moulds to make jars, bottles, or fibreglass.

How do I get stickers off the glass?

Not only are stickers on glass unsightly but they can damage your surface. There are many ways that you can attempt to get stickers off the glass. Just some of them include using hot, soapy water and scrubbing away at the sticker; rubbing alcohol on a paper towel; using eucalyptus oil on a cloth. We don’t recommend using a razor blade to remove the sticker as it may scratch the glass and leave a permanent impression.

What are the building standards for glass in Australia?

All glass and windows used in Australian homes must comply with the regulations set out by the Australian Glass and Window Association. These Standards include:

  • AS2047 Windows in Buildings – Selection and Installation
  • AS1288 Glass in Buildings – Selection and Installation
